Felt & Synthetics

Felt and synthetic underlayments are protective layers installed beneath roofing materials to provide an additional barrier against moisture and weather.

  • Felt underlayment: made from asphalt-saturated paper or fiberglass, has been a traditional choice for decades. It offers basic water resistance and is available in 15-pound and 30-pound thicknesses.
  • Synthetic underlayment: made from polypropylene or polyethylene, is a more modern alternative. It is lighter, more durable, and resistant to tearing, mold, and UV exposure.
